Take a look at some of the terminology we use with regards to SALTO KS, to describe products, services and hardware.
Access
Access is the right of a user to lock, or unlock a door, within a specified time.
Access Group
An Access Group determines which users have the rights to access which locks and on what date / time (or time frame).
Access management
Allows you to give access to specific user, in specific timeframe(s) to specific lock(s). Calling the access management endpoints is followed by synchronisations to keep the ClayIQ in sync with the access groups.
Accessor
An accessor is an entity using the Clay Locking Platform. Accessors have tags, locks, and events.
Audit Trail
Audit trail is a set of records on a particular lock or tag.
Clay SDK
The Clay Mobile SDK makes Basic API endpoints available as functions for the OTP logic.
ClayCode / OTP
The ClayCode is a specific security feature of Clay. It is a so called 'OTP' (One Time Password) that is valid for one single transaction. A ClayCode is a 5 digit code that can consist of a combination of characters: a-z and 0-9 and it is not case sensitive. The encryption is unique and only known and shared between your App and your IQ so it is not stored in the Cloud or anywhere else. And since it is your App and your IQ, you are the only one that has control over these critical features. Opening doors remotely, putting doors in office mode and changing hardware configurations within Clay need to be confirmed by a ClayCode.
Cylinder
Compact sized electronic cylinders are designed for doors where fitting an electronic escutcheon is not possible or required. Totally wire-free, available in different models, e.g. half cylinder, cylinder with thumb turn, double cylinder, cam lock cylinder, padlock, and with a wide offering of different profiles, e.g., Euro profile, UK oval, Swiss Round, Australian oval, Scandinavian profiles, ANSI profiles.
Door warning
Warning to check if a door is still open.
EOM (Easy Office Mode)
Easy Office Mode offers the ability to schedule when Office Mode can be enabled and disabled simply by presenting a Tag with access to that door. You need to define the period in which you want to be able to present a tag to keep the door unlocked (in Office Mode), or to lock it again (by disabling Office Mode).
Escutcheon
Escutcheon gives you the experience of a real door handle. They are also suitable for any door, including those with narrow frames, fire doors and emergency exits.
IQ
The IQ modem/router combination that is the link/ dedicated gateway between SALTO hardware units/ repeaters and Clay server. The IQ receives all changes and settings from your application and ensures that all locks are updated within seconds. The IQ serves as the brain of a Clay System.
IQ PowerCycle
Disconnecting the IQ from the power and connecting it again.
IQ reconnection
Reconnect the sockets on the product by sending a UDP Reconnection command remotely.
IQ Reset to defaults
Take a paperclip or a similar item and press the reset button for a minimum of 5 seconds while it is plugged. While doing this please take note of the fact that the rest process starts with a Yellow blink of the IQ. Within maximum 2 minutes your IQ should blink 3 times Red/Green/Blue. After these RGB flashes, wait maximum 2 minutes to have the IQ reset all settings.
IQ Software reset
Reset the product by sending a Reset command remotely.
Local Access Management
Local Access Management (or LAM) is the local database on the ClayIQ that holds all access tables that is also stored on CWS. When communication with CCC stops, the ClayIQ can still determine who has access to which lock locally.
ClayIQ version 2.5.8 (and up) supports LAM
Locks
Clay systems are equipped with wireless SALTO locks; escutcheon, cylinder or wall reader. The total number of doors that are attached (either directly or through repeaters) cannot exceed 16 per IQ.
Manual Office Mode (MOM)
MOM has no schedules per door. A user with MOM rights can put all the doors he has access to in and out office mode.
MOM has priority over EOM.
Digital Key
A Digital Key is the virtual equivalent of a Tag. It can be managed same as physical access by access groups. The Digital Key is stored on the user’s mobile device, and when presented to a lock, it uses BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) to open the lock. This way users can use their smartphones as a Tag, opening the lock without relying on internet connection; which makes Digital Key as secure as using a physical Tag.
Office Mode
When a door is in Office Mode it means, the door is in an “unlocked” state until Office Mode is disabled. Meaning that the door clutch enables the door to stay unlocked without presenting a valid credential.
Offline Access/ Masterkey
The Master key/ Offline Access setting allows continued access to assigned doors in the rare event that the IQ is offline. For example, if the wireless network has a ditch, power is cut or if the Clay IQ is suspended, this setting allows to continue accessing their assigned doors regardless of timeframe, and until situation is restored.
Remote opening
Clay provides a secure remote opening using end customers’ mobile devices and protected by ClayCode/OTP.
Repeater
A repeater is an extension in case the signal doesn’t cover the distance between IQ and lock hardware.
A maximum of 6 repeaters can be connected to an IQ, either directly to the IQ or through another repeater (for up to 3 layers).
RF Channel
Channel number on which the ClayIQ/Lock connect through Zigbee operates.
Tag
A tag is a physical device (contactless key fob) that works based on RFID. Tags represent the user’s physical credentials to a lock. Every valid tag can lock and unlock a lock. RFID technologies available: DESfire, Mifare. 13.56MHz contactless RFID identification. High security, by using password and encrypted proximity fobs.
Wall reader
Wall reader provides the ideal solution for those access points where online connectivity is needed, or where interaction with other systems or electric powered devices such as elevators, roller shutter doors or barriers are required. It includes latest electronics and is completely sealed and designed for heavy-duty outdoor use (IP 66). It reads encrypted data from the carriers and then communicates it to the door controllers.
Zigbee
Proprietary encrypted communication protocol between Locks, Repeaters and IQ.
