Yes, it is possible to manage both the devices and sessions of your SALTO KS account to make your account more secure and keep your mind at ease. You can do this in the following ways:
1. Make use of Session Management in your account.
Navigate to Security and Services in your Settings page, where you will find this option, and click Manage. Session Management gives you an overview of all the logged-in sessions linked to your account. If you don’t recognize a session, you can log out and end all sessions.
2. Save a trusted device to your SALTO KS account.
When you save a trusted device, you will no longer have the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) step on the device, as it will be recognized as trusted.
In order to enable this, you must log in, and while authenticating with a second factor, you will find an option below that states: “Don’t prompt again for second factor on this device for 60 days”.
By checking this box, you assert that you no longer wish to use 2FA on the current device for 60 days.
These trusted devices can be managed under Security and Services, and you can opt to forget the devices at any time.
Yes, SALTO KS has integrated with NET.Lock from GANTNER - a SALTO Group Company. By utilizing GANTNER’s locker cloud platform, you can now manage and open smart lockers in your SALTO KS Web and Mobile App if the integration is enabled on your site.
Users will be able to unlock GANTNER locker locks in two different ways: either via Remote Opening from their SALTO KS Mobile App or with a SALTO tag. The best of access control, now leveraging the most modern locker solution.
There are two functionalities for locker management in SALTO KS:
Personal Mode
A user needs to be assigned to a locker to occupy it. This can be done by Site Admins.
Multiple users can be assigned to the same locker. The locker will only be available to the assigned user(s), who can lock/open it as many times as they want.
It will only be free for use again when unassigned from the previous user(s).
Dynamic Mode
In Dynamic Mode, a user can occupy any available locker at a given moment. The locker will then only be accessible to that user, who can lock/open it as many times as they want.
It will only be available again when it is released from the previous user. This can be done by the users themselves via the Mobile App, and Site Admins can make use of the Web App to release the locker as well.
In Dynamic Mode, when you select the button Release Locker, you unassign the locker so that it becomes available for use again. This can be done by the users themselves via the Mobile App, and Site Admins can make use of the Web App to release the locker as well.
Only once the locker has been released in Dynamic Mode can it become vacant and ready again for use.
When you use your SALTO KS app to lock the locker remotely and occupy it, the light will blink green repeatedly, indicating that the locker can be closed. Push the locker’s door until it is closed and the light turns red. This will indicate that the locker is closed.
If you are using your SALTO tag, make sure that you close the locker and present the tag to it. The light will then turn red as well, indicating that the locker is closed.
Yes, it is possible to manage tags in Pods! Pod Members can directly assign and manage the tags of their Pod Guests. In order to do so, Pod Members should have the SALTO KS Mobile App version 8.9.0 or higher. This process works in two steps:
Step 1: The Site Admin can go to a Pod of their choice to assign tags that are already part of the site to that Pod on the Web App.
Step 2: The Pod Members can assign those tags to their guests on the Mobile App.
Before this, when a guest would be invited, the Pod Member had to contact the Site Admin to assign the guest a tag and hand it over. Now, the Pod Member has the power to control the access of the guest in one simple step. This easy management of tags would optimize operations in coworking spaces, for instance, where members have agency and flexibility in providing tag access to visitors or contractors.
With the introduction of tag management in Pods, guests’ tags can now be added and removed seamlessly by Site Admins while Pod Members can manage and view the status of their Pod Guests and their access.
Site Admins can easily assign a tag to a Pod on the SALTO KS Web App. When you click on ‘+ Create a new Pod’, you will be taken through the process of creating and setting up a new Pod, where you can assign a tag to a Pod Member and choose the locks they can access with that Tag. During this process, one of the steps will ask you to choose the unassigned tags that Pod Members can assign to guests. Doing this will give Pod Members the ability to directly assign those tags to their Pod Guests with ease on their Mobile App.
Next, you will be asked to select a ‘Timeframe’ and, finally, add a Pod name. You will be shown an overview of the Pod you have created after completing all the steps.
There you have it! You have successfully assigned a tag to a Pod.
You can also keep track of your Pods by clicking on the name of your Pod of choice, where you will be taken to an overview of its details. Here, if you click ‘Tags’ in the left sidebar menu, you will see two columns: ‘Tags assigned to this Pod’ and ‘unassigned tags’. You can manage and maintain the tags in your Pod of choice as and when you require.
As a Pod Member, you can assign a tag to a Pod Guest of your choice on the SALTO KS Mobile App. When you go to ‘Invite a guest’, you will see an ‘Access’ section where you can see the option to ‘Assign Tag’. If there are no tags assigned to the Pod, this option will not be available for you, and you will be informed.
If you click on ‘Assign Tag’, you will find an overview of all the available tags to assign. Here, you can select a tag of your choice for the guest you have invited.
Once you select it, that person will successfully be able to use the tag, and when you click on their name, you will be able to their details. Here, you will always be able to check the tag number, remove the tag, or assign a different tag.
To unassign a tag from a Pod Guest, navigate to the Pod and select a guest of your choice. Here, under ‘Details’, you can select the option ‘Tag’ to assign a different tag or to unassign it from the guest.
The unassigned tags will be available on the Site level. They can now be assigned once again to a Pod and user.
The unassigned tags inside the Pod stay as they are and the next Pod Member would have the ability to assign them to their guests.
The tag is unassigned from the user and remains in the Pod as unassigned for the Pod Member to assign to another guest.
If the user is removed from a Site, the tag will become available for the Pod Member to assign it to another guest.
The tag is unassigned from the user if the tag belongs to a Pod. It will then become available for the Pod Member to assign to another guest.
Pod Members cannot block the tag of their guest. In this scenario, they can unassign the tag, or they need to reach out to Site Admin to block it.
The SALTO KS app exists for both your Mobile and Smart Watch.
The following devices are compatible for each:
Mobile App (SALTO KS App for the phone) works on Mobile Devices from Android Marshmallow (Android 6, SDK/API 23) and higher.
Wear OS App (SALTO KS App for the watch) works on any smart watches running Wear OS. The smartphone needs to have Android version 8 or higher.
In order to use your Digital Key in your Wear OS smart watch, your phone need to have Android version 8 and higher with API 26.
Follow these steps to activate Digital Key for use on your Wear OS smart watch:
1. Install the SALTO KS app on your phone and watch
Click the ‘Open’ button to access the SALTO KS page on your watch’s Play Store. Once there, tap ‘Install’. To sync, you need to open the SALTO KS app in your smart watch and then go to the next step.
2. Activate Digital Key on your smart watch
Please confirm if you wish to activate Digital Key on your smart watch by clicking the ‘Activate’ button.
3. Your Digital Key is ready for use!
Once activated, you are ready to unlock! Simply place the watch, gently, against the lock. Should you require, you can always remove Digital Key from your smart watch by navigating to the Digital Key Settings.
To open a door using Digital Key on your smart watch, simply tap the Digital Key icon on your watch and place the watch gently against the lock to open the door.
Once the Digital Key is activated, it can be managed from the ‘Digital Key settings’ option in the Settings screen on the SALTO KS Mobile app.
Yes, your SALTO KS Watch app can also be added as a ‘complication’ on your Wear OS Watch—instead of scrolling through the apps on your watch to use Digital Key, you can add the SALTO KS ‘complication’ to your custom watch face to improve your experience and have quick one-tap access.
Yes! With our SALTO KS app release for Android version 8.7.0, you can activate Digital Key on your Wear OS smart watch. This enables you to have swifter openings without having to get your phone out of your pocket or even bring it with you.
To enable this feature, download the SALTO KS app on both your Wear OS watch and Android phone through the Google Play Store, after which you will be guided through the set-up to activate Digital Key on your watch. Once activated, you are ready to unlock! Simply place the watch, gently, against the lock.
Pro tip: Instead of scrolling through the apps on your watch to use Digital Key, you can add the SALTO KS ‘complication’ to your custom watch face to improve your experience and have quick ‘one-tap’ access.
Yes, it is possible to have more than one method of authentication for your SALTO KS account. You can have all three methods enabled, and upon logging in, you can select which authentication method you would like to use to enter your account.
You can remove an authentication method by navigating to the overview of your Two-Factor Authentication and clicking on the trash icon towards the right of the methods listed.
Please keep in mind that once you configure your 2FA, Email cannot be removed as Email authentication has to always remain as a backup for all authentication methods in your SALTO KS account. However, in case you don’t want to be prompted for Authentication Codes, you can disable 2FA completely without removing any of the configured authentication methods.
You can use the Recovery Code in the event you are unable to log in by using one of the authentication methods you configured.
After you have enabled your authentication method of choice, as a final step, we generate a Recovery Code for you to use when you have lost your device or cannot access it.
Keep this code safe, as you will not be shown this code again.
Once you use this code, your Two-Factor Authentication settings will be reset. You will need to enable 2FA once again in your account in order to continue using it, and in the process, you will be given a new Recovery Code.
Once you sign in with your credentials to the SALTO KS Web or Mobile app, you will be asked for a verification code, i.e. the second factor. Depending on the 2FA method you have enabled, you have to provide this code by using your authenticator app or checking messages for the verification code sent to you via SMS or Email.
If SMS has been selected as your mode of authentication, the code is sent to the registered phone number. It is possible to “Resend” or “Log in with a recovery code”. When you choose ‘Resend’, a new code will be sent, and the old one will be invalidated. The recovery code may be used when a user doesn’t have their device within reach or cannot receive a text message. This code is one of the Recovery Codes given to the user in the 2FA registration process, which should be kept safely.
Once both factors are entered, the user is verified and gains access to the SALTO KS app.
To enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), sign in to your SALTO KS account and navigate to the Profile page. Here, click on ‘Manage Profile and Settings’ beneath Profile Information.
From there, scroll down to your ‘Security & services’ section, where you can choose to either have your Two-Factor Authentication ‘Enabled’ or ‘Disabled’.
After you have enabled 2FA, you will be required to enter your password again for security purposes. From this step, you will need to select your authentication method.
Authenticator apps:
Should you select the authenticator app as your method of choice, download the Google Authenticator App (available for iOS and Android) or another similar app of your choice. Then, register your app by either entering the code from the given options into your authenticator app or scanning the QR code.
We then request you back up your authentication method with Email authentication in the event you do not have your device on hand.
SMS:
If you select SMS, we will request you to enter your mobile number in order to register SMS authentication. Then, click ‘Send SMS’, and a 6-digit code will be sent to your registered mobile number. In the next and final step, enter this code and click ‘Register’ to enable this authentication method.
Email:
If you select Email, we will use the email address in your profile to register for this authentication method. A 6-digit code will be sent to this registered email address, after which you have to return to your SALTO KS app and enter this code to confirm this mode of authentication.
As a final step, no matter your authentication method, you need to generate your Recovery Code to be used when you have lost your device or cannot access it. Keep this code safe, as you will not be shown this code again.
You will then be shown a confirmation message that you have successfully registered a Two-Factor Authentication method. Well done!
Once you have 2FA enabled, the authentication method selected by you will be used as the second factor of authentication whenever you log in.
Two-Factor Authentication can be used as an added layer of security on top of your username and password for your SALTO KS account. When 2FA is enabled, your account has extra protection should your credentials or device ever be compromised. A user’s identity is verified through a combination of two separate components (or factors) to confirm the authenticity of the identity claimed. The first factor is the set of credentials used to log in to your account. The second factor can take the form of one of the following:
Authenticator apps
SMS Code
Email Code
If something has gone wrong, for instance, the lock was not found, the Digital Key timed out due to an error in placement near the sensor, or if perhaps you don’t have access to the specific lock, you will be requested to ‘Try again’.
Ensure the Digital Key is received by the lock correctly by tapping the Digital Key icon on your watch face and then placing your watch against the lock to open the door. If your ‘Haptics’ setting is enabled, the lock opening will be accompanied by a vibration and sound, confirming that the opening is successful. This is also indicated by the LED flashing green. You do not need your phone present with you to use your Apple Watch for access.
If this still does not work, make sure you have the required access rights to the entry point you are trying to access. If this still fails, we advise you to reset the Digital Key, and you can do so by navigating to the ‘Digital Key settings’ option in the Settings screen of the SALTO KS Mobile App.
To open a door using Digital Key on your Apple Watch, simply tap the Digital Key icon on your watch and place the watch against the lock to open the door.
If your ‘Haptics’ setting is enabled, the lock opening will be accompanied by a vibration and sound, confirming that the opening is successful. This is also indicated by the LED flashing green. You do not need your phone present with you to use your Apple Watch for access.
Once the Digital Key is activated, it can be managed from the ‘Digital Key settings’ option in the Settings screen on the SALTO KS Mobile app.
Yes, your SALTO KS Watch app can also be added as a ‘complication’ on your Apple Watch—a special feature that blends seamlessly with any Apple Watch face you customize according to your liking. Complications are small interface elements that users place on the clock face, in this case, your Digital Key. They are only supported from watchOS 9 onwards and Apple Watch Series 4 onwards.
Follow these steps to add your SALTO KS Digital Key complication:
Step 1: With the watch face showing, touch and hold the display, then tap ‘Edit’.
Step 2: Swipe left to the end, and you will find complications on the last screen.
Step 3: Tap a complication to select it, then turn the Digital Crown on the side of your watch to choose a new one—until you find SALTO KS Digital Key.
Step 4: When you have selected it, press the Digital Crown to save your changes, and tap the face to switch to it.
Yes, the SALTO KS Digital Key on your iPhone can also be used on your Apple Watch. Your SALTO KS Mobile App can detect when an Apple Watch is synchronized with your iPhone and accordingly guides you through setting up and activating Digital Key on your watch in a few easy steps. All you need to do is install ‘SALTO KS’ on your Apple Watch and also have the app on your iPhone. Then, with your SALTO KS app open on your phone, and open on your watch, confirm whether you would like to activate Digital Key on your Apple Watch by clicking the ‘Activate’ button. This can be found on the ‘Apple Watch setup’ added to your SALTO KS Mobile app ‘Settings’ screen. Please ensure that your phone and watch displays are awake and active for this process.
Once activated, the Digital Key is ready for use: simply tap the Digital Key icon on your watch and place the watch against the lock to open the door. If your ‘Haptics’ setting is enabled, the lock opening will be accompanied by a vibration and sound, confirming that the opening is successful. This is also indicated by the LED flashing green. You do not need your phone present with you to use your Apple Watch for access.
Your Digital Key can also be added as a ‘complication’ on your Apple Watch—a special feature that blends seamlessly with any Apple Watch face you customize according to your liking. Complications are only supported from watchOS 9 onwards and for users with Apple Watch 4 onwards.
Present the tag you want to unassign to the Tag reader. You will see to whom the tag is assigned and be able to see the user overview. Additionally, you are able to assign the tag to a ‘New User’ or an ‘Existing User’.
If the tag is a ‘Master Key’, you will first have to unassign the tag as a Master Key before you can unassign the tag from your Site. Click here for instructions on unassigning a ‘Master Key’.
Present the tag to the Tag reader and click ‘Next’. The screen will tell you which user the tag is assigned to and will ask if you want to invite this user to your Site. Click ‘yes’ or ‘no’ and then ‘confirm’ to complete this process.
When the tag you want to add is unassigned, you must present it to the Tag reader again and click ‘Next’. Now the tag has been successfully registered. Click ‘Next’. Now you can start assigning the tag.
Assigning the Tag to a new user:
Fill in the first name, last name, role, and e-mail. Select the ways of opening for the new user and the lock options. Select the Access group(s) the user may be a part of. At the end of the flow, the user overview will be presented. If everything is correct, click ‘Save’.
Assigning the Tag to an existing user:
If you want to add the tag to an existing user, select the user of your preference and click ‘Save’.
To begin the process of Smart Tag Enrollment, first, the Site Admin must set up a lock as a Tag reader by selecting an available lock in the ‘Tag reader’ section of the Web App (Located in Site -> Tag reader, or from the Dashboard by clicking on ‘Tag reader’).
Next, the user must navigate to the ‘Dashboard’ and once there, they can present the tag directly to the Tag reader. This action will trigger a modal to pop up on your KS Web App.
Alternatively, on the ‘Dashboard’, you will see on the right top corner a title that says ‘Add a Tag’. When you click the title, the same modal will pop up, asking you to choose between your default Tag reader or selecting another one. Then you must present the tag you want to add to the Tag reader or manually type in the tag number and click ‘Next’. However, scanning the Tag reader will trigger the above flow automatically when the Tag reader is already chosen. After following these steps, you have successfully added a tag using the Tag reader!
There are two ways to set up a Tag reader:
Option 1:
On the Dashboard, you see a tile that says ‘Tag reader’; on the top right. When you click on this title, a box is shown where you can select the lock you want to assign to be a Tag reader. Only the locks that are online and not in Office Mode can be selected. When you click ‘Save’, the lock will be successfully added as your default Tag reader. If you want to change this, you can go to the ‘Site’ tab and click ‘Tag reader’ in the menu on the left of your screen.
Option 2:
If you are on the ‘Site’ tab (top of the page), you can find ‘Tag reader’ as the last item in the menu on the left of the screen. When you click ‘Tag reader’ you are led to a page where you can select a lock as your default Tag reader. Only locks that are online and not in Office Mode can be selected.
Smart Tag Enrollment is a process which enables users to assign a Tag to a SALTO KS user by simply scanning it via a Tag reader. The Tag reader is a lock in your site (Wall Reader, Electronic lock etc.) assigned by a Site Admin to perform this process and view the details of those tags.
The receptionist or Site Admin can pick up a tag and present it to the Tag reader, and by following the steps displayed, the tag can be assigned to a certain user profile. This saves time and guarantees a smooth experience of assigning access.
You can delete your Digital Key directly in your Mobile App. This is especially useful if you have multiple Digital Keys on different devices, some of which are no longer useful to you. Navigate to ‘Settings’ and select your ‘Digital Key settings”. Here, you can delete the key of your choice by tapping ‘Delete the Digital Key’. You will be asked to confirm this action, as once it is deleted, it cannot be undone. Upon confirming, your Digital Key will instantly be removed from your device and will no longer be visible on your Web or Mobile Apps.
Should you wish to activate a new Digital Key in your app, you will find the option to do so at the top of your Digital Key settings, where you can easily manage and maintain your Digital keys.
Site Admins and Site Super Users can also delete their Digital Keys in the Web App. To do this, they must access their keys by navigating to the People page, where they can click on their own user (i.e. they can see themselves listed on the page). Here, they can delete the Digital Key of their choice.
It is only possible to delete your own Digital Key(s).
To use Social Login for your SALTO KS account, open the login screen of your SALTO KS app, and you will see 3 icons: Apple, Office 365, and Google. Click on one of these icons to link your account from the platform to your KS account, and the next time you log in, you can swiftly enter through Social Login without entering your SALTO KS account credentials.
If you are opting to log in with your Apple account, be sure to select “Share My Email” when logging in. This will allow us to connect your Apple ID to your KS account.
If you select “Hide My Email”, this will prevent your Apple user account from being linked to your KS account, and you will have to manually change this by going into your Apple account settings to share it accordingly.
You can use multiple Social Login accounts if they all use the same email address as the user ID. Social Login allows you to link your account on either Apple, Google, or Office 365 to your SALTO KS account and sign in using only the credentials of your account from that application.
Using multiple Social Login accounts with different emails will not access the same SALTO KS profile.
Yes, using Social Login, you can log into the SALTO KS Web and Mobile apps using your Apple, Google, or Office 365 personal account and respective credentials.
Through the trusted connection between SALTO KS and the Social Login Identity Providers, the identity information at hand is certified. As a result, we are confident that these personal credentials for the respective applications are from a verified source.
If you are using an social account (Apple, Google, or Microsoft) to log in, the system will rely on it for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as well. This means that if you have 2FA enabled on that social account, the 2FA methods you have set up on it will be used as the second factor of authentication when logging in.
To provide a seamless login process for the SALTO KS Web and Mobile app, we have enabled Social Login as an option for you. This feature allows you to link your account on either Apple, Google, or Office 365 to your SALTO KS account and sign in using only the credentials of your account from that application.
This works based on a trusted connection between SALTO KS and the Social Login Identity Providers, and all you need to do is click on one of the 3 icons to choose the platform for which you would like to use Social Login. This feature simplifies your credential management, saves time, and guarantees a better login experience. It also provides you with better security since you have fewer credentials to keep track of and which can potentially be breached.
You can easily manage your Digital Keys for guests in the Settings tab of your SALTO KS app, under ‘Pod management’. Here, you can add guests and specify which Pod you wish to add them to as well as the corresponding locks and timeframes they should have access to. Additionally, by going into ‘Guest details’, you can inquire whether guests are ‘Active’ (their activity status on the app) and also choose to ‘Remove Guest’ thereby revoking access.
Guest Mode is a portal in the SALTO KS app that allows guests invited by Pod members to access the Digital Key(s) sent to them via an invitation. Likewise, Pod members and existing app users who have been invited as guests may also use ‘Guest Mode’. Once guests receive an invite with a URL link, they can navigate to Guest Mode of the SALTO KS app or if they are an existing user, can select ‘Continue in Guest Mode’. From here, they can access the Pod they have been invited to and can view and use the Digital Keys shared with them for specified timeframes.
Guests can retrieve their Digital Key in 3 easy stages!
Stage 1: Go into Guest Mode
To get started, guests will receive a link that will lead them to the app, where they must continue in ‘Guest Mode’. Existing users can access their Digital Keys as guests either by clicking the ‘Continue as a Guest’ button from the login screen, or by switching sites once within the app.
Stage 2: Enter first and last name
As a guest, there is no need to create a full profile. All that is required to enter is their first and last name.
Stage 3: Activate Digital Key
This process is automatic and within just a few seconds, the Digital Key gets retrieved and activated in the guest’s mobile app. The Digital Key can then be used as it normally would be, by clicking on the Digital Key button and then gently tapping the smartphone to the lock.
It’s as simple as that! Now, the Digital Key is activated for the guest and they can open the doors they have been granted access to, without having to be buzzed in by anyone.
The limit on the number of guests that can be invited depends on the Pod settings. The Site Admin is in control of the guest limit, and this cannot be regulated by Pod members.
As a Pod member, you can go to the Pod section of your app and invite the guests you would like to provide access. You can manage which specific locks you want guests to access, as well as set timeframes for them.
You can invite guests and send them their own Digital Key in 3 simple steps.
Step 1: Create the invitation
To get started, navigate to the ‘Pod management’ section and click on ‘Invite guests’. Here, you can select which Pod you would like to invite your guest to and then specify the locks and timeframes for their access. Lastly, click on ‘continue’ and this will generate a URL link with a ‘Guest Invite’ that you can copy and/or share with your chosen guest.
Step 2: The guest receives the invitation
Once they receive the shared link, guests can download the SALTO KS app or be directed to ‘Guest Mode’ in the app if they already have the app downloaded on their device. As a guest, there is no need to create a full profile, all that is required is their first name, and last name.
Step 3: The guest uses their Digital Key
They can now access the Pod in ‘Guest Mode’, using the Digital Key(s) granted to them and for the corresponding timeframes set by you.
Yes, you can do so by inviting someone as a guest and sending them the URL link generated in the SALTO KS app through which they can activate their own Digital Key. These guests can make use of this Digital Key without having to create a full profile - all that is required is a first and last name. The invitation which is sent to the guest as a URL link guarantees the same seamless access experience for them in ‘Guest Mode’, without compromising on security.
You can manage which specific locks you want guests to access, as well as set timeframes for them. They will not have access to the entire Pod unless specifically granted access to all locks in the Pod by the respective Pod Member.
In order to support this feature, your SALTO KS Mobile App needs to be updated to version 8.5.1 for iOS and 8.5.0 for Android (subsequent version releases will support this feature).
Yes, you can invite guests and provide them with their very own Digital Key meant for guests! This does not mean that your guest has access to your Digital Key and its management, it only means they can access the specific locks you have given them access to through a Digital Key (for the guest). In the SALTO KS mobile app, Pod members can invite guests to activate a Digital Key for themselves, so they can use it without having to create a full profile - all that is required is a first and last name. The invitation is sent to the guest as a URL link, which guarantees the same seamless access experience for them in ‘Guest Mode’, without compromising on security.
To do this, Pod members must navigate to the Pod section of their KS app and invite the guests they want to provide access. They can manage which specific locks they want guests to access, as well as set timeframes for them.
In order to support this feature, your SALTO KS Mobile App needs to be updated to version 8.5.1 for iOS and 8.5.0 for Android (subsequent version releases will support this feature).

You can configure your IQs in order to connect them to the internet. The communication happens via Bluetooth between your IQ and your phone, with the SALTO KS App. You can connect your IQs via Ethernet, Wi-Fi or with a SIM card inside a USB stick. Once the IQ is configured, you can add it to your site in app.saltoks.com or let your installer carry out the whole process for you.
Please reach out to our support team to help you with this issue.
As you know, it is possible to connect the IQ to a Wi-Fi network. You can also use ‘Wi-Fi sharing’ on SALTO KS App to connect multiple IQs to a single Wi-Fi network. This will vastly improve your experience, particularly when commissioning large sites where you need not enter a Wi-Fi password for each of the IQs on your site. After configuring one IQ, the Wi-Fi credentials will be securely stored on the device. This allows you to continue the configuration of other IQs later, just by pressing a single button under the desired Wi-Fi network. The minimum Mobile App version required for this feature is iOS and Android Version 8.3.
Follow the steps below to instantly connect to your Wi-Fi without having to enter the password again for multiple IQs. You can tap on the Wi-Fi connection to see the list of available networks to connect to.

Office Mode permanently unlocks the door, which means everyone can open the door without presenting a tag or digital key. SALTO KS offers different types of Office Modes, which ensure maximum security and flexibility for your space.
‘Regular’ or ‘Manual’ Office Mode (MOM):
This mode unlocks a door permanently until a user, with the right role/permission, locks the door again. If you want to set a lock into Regular Office Mode, you can either use the web- or mobile app or perform an action on the lock itself. If you would like to do the latter, there are two ways to do that, depending on your lock. If you have an older type of escutcheon, you can simply present a valid tag with proper permission while holding the inside handle. On newer BlueNet cylinders and escutcheons, you only have to present the Tag for more than 5 seconds. The permission needed for this mode is called Manual Office Mode (MOM), which is set on a per-user basis, which can be found under user settings.
Easy Office Mode (EOM):
This mode, just like the MOM, unlocks the door continuously, but with the difference of following a set schedule. This means that people with the right permission can put locks into Office Mode during a specific time frame by using their tag. When the schedule is active, presenting a tag will put a lock in- or out of Office Mode. Outside of the schedule, presenting the tag will regularly and temporarily unlock the door. When a lock is in Easy Office Mode and the set time frame ends, it will lock itself automatically.
This feature is helpful for granting easy access, requiring no remote action to set a lock into Office Mode. The user permission for this mode can also be found in the user detail page under lock permissions called ‘Easy Office Mode (EOM).’ The EOM schedule is defined on the lock details page.

An access control system is a technology-based system that provides security solutions, allowing you to manage, monitor and control who goes where and at what time within an organization. This operates through modern electronic means as opposed to mechanical locks and keys. The system thereby provides centralized management and regulation, without the cost and complexity of physical access systems.
Door access control systems can restrict access to selected users in order to ensure safety of inventory, secure intellectual property, and protect its users. Systems can be adapted to business needs and be implemented in coffee machines, printers and much more depending on your business type. Furthermore, access control systems provide important data like the occupancy of your spaces, lock events, alarms and everything connecting to access points. They also offer the possibility for integration with the software your company uses for booking/scheduling, visitor management and operations.
Keyless entry is a way of entry without traditional mechanical keys or mechanical locks. Digital key, Remote opening, and Pin all provide keyless entry, and Tags are available for those who prefer to rely on a physical key. The following is an overview on such keyless entry options:
The following is an overview on such keyless entry options:

All you need to do is activate Digital Key in your KS app and tap your phone on the reader of the Lock. Users can receive Digital Keys anytime and anywhere, making issuing and receiving access rights much easier and more flexible.

4. Tags: The smart mechanical key Tags represent the user’s physical credentials to a lock. Every valid Tag can lock and unlock. Tags are highly secured, by using a password and encrypted proximity fobs. Tags are convenient to open the door in case you don’t have your phone on you all day. It’s also a nice way to welcome a new tenant. In case a Tag gets lost you avoid wasting time and money on replacing the lock on the specific door. Simply block the Tag and hand out a new one!
With the use of smart locks, businesses or homes can be protected and regulated without the stress of forgetting to lock doors, losing keys, or potential break-ins. Access control systems allow varying levels of security whereby control is flexible and may be done anytime and from any place. Furthermore, the owner or administrator has full control and they may authorize users and grant specified levels of access using an intuitive interface. With smart locks, it is even possible to gain activity insights in order to have complete visibility and notifications related to all use of smart locks on site.
In order to run your business or home with ease and offer the best user experience, smart lock systems also have the ability to integrate with useful and complementary software such as intercom and video surveillance. For instance, Salto KS offers KS Service integrations with Comelit and Eagle Eye Networks which enables the owner or manager of a building to offer tenants intercom and video surveillance services respectively. These include being notified about someone ringing your doorbell, having a live video/audio feed, and unlocking remotely.

Salto KS Sites are equipped with wireless SALTO locks. SALTO locks can go on any door in the world, however unusual the door may be. SALTO offers a broad range of hardware, making smart access to any door possible; such as Escutcheons or Cylinders for main entry doors and internal meeting rooms, Wall readers for all electric doors like gates.
If you are considering implementing Salto KS as an access control system your company needs to, at a bare minimum, need to acquire: A SALTO lock, an IQ, and a subscription to SALTO KS. Tags are optional since remote openings or Digital Keys are a popular option. A repeater needs to be acquired when there are more than 10 meters in between the Lock and the IQ.
Locks: There is an extensive range of locks available. With a wide variety of escutcheons and cylinders, SALTO locks are equipped to fit any door around the globe. Compact sized, wire-free and compatible with most European, Scandinavian and ANSI mortise locks and tubular latches.
Digital Key: A Digital Key is the virtual equivalent of a Tag. With a single download on a registered and verified smartphone, your guests can gain access to doors by means of Digital Key. Tapping the smartphone on the lock will do the trick. The smartphone and wireless BLE Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) lock pair, and the lock is opened via BLE. This way you can use your smartphones as a Tag, opening the lock without relying on an active internet connection; which makes Digital Key as secure as using a physical Tag.
What is an IQ: The IQ is the central hub of your site. It receives all changes and settings from the Salto KS application and ensures that all locks are updated within seconds. The IQ serves as the brain of your site, connects your wireless locks to the cloud and can be extended by adding additional repeaters if needed.
What is a Tag? You can always use your smartphone to unlock doors, but as a second credential, you can also use Tags. A Tag is a physical device (contactless key fob) that works based on RFID. With a built in secured chip, an opening can be triggered by directly presenting the Tag to the lock. A Tag replaces that ring of keys, and grants designated access to employees, guests or even cleaning services whenever it’s appropriate for them to enter. Simply assign a Tag to a user, and define when and where that Tag can go.
What is a repeater? A repeater is an extension in case the signal doesn’t cover the distance between IQ and locks. A maximum of 6 repeaters can be connected to an IQ, either directly to the IQ or through another repeater (for up to 3 layers).
What is a Wall reader? The SALTO KS Wall Reader incorporates the cutting-edge design standard of the XS4 2.0 product range. In combination with the SALTO KS Controller, it facilitates the expansion of SALTO access control benefits to all those doors where a stand-alone electronic lock cannot be fitted, i.e. barriers, lifts, sliding doors or electronic gates to provide your facility with a complete security solution.

Cloud based access control systems allow companies to manage and control their doors and entry access through the internet, rather than physical computers in buildings and server rooms. Moving access control system to cloud helps businesses increase security and efficiency.
These characteristics make access control simpler as they ensure:
-The management and monitoring of access rights are possible across multiple locations and is able to adapt based on fluctuating workforce capacities.
-Software updates concerning security and new features are taken care of with cloud-based access control systems via automatic updates, saving both time and energy in system maintenance.
-These systems are made to be accessed and edited by multiple members making it possible to control access rights anytime and from anywhere, with open collaboration. The various admin rights available allow system operations to run smoothly and efficiently.
-Cloud-based access control allows users to manage and monitor access remotely from anywhere they may be as long as they have a working internet or Bluetooth connection.
-These systems ensure that all access rights are stored centrally and protect data which is updated regularly. Furthermore, access rights can be edited instantly according to your security needs.
If you navigate to the hardware page in your SALTO KS app, you can find an overview of all locks and IQs.
One IQ can connect to up to 16 locks. The locks can be directly linked to the IQ or through repeaters. A total of 6 repeaters can be connected to an IQ, either directly or in a linked configuration (IQ > Repeater > Repeater) in maximum 3 layers.
Regardless of the number of repeaters the maximum amount of 16 locks per IQ remains the same.
For more information on the IQ and repeater, please visit our hardware page.
